Updating kitchen into a kitchen diner – Brackelsham West SussexBackground
We own a 1990’s detached house in Bracklesham. We have wanted to update our kitchen for a number of years. What we really wanted was an open plan kitchen diner. Another contractor had told us that that due to the construction of the house, it was very difficult or impossible to achieve.

The project brief and progress
The structural wall between the kitchen and dining room needed to be removed and supported. We were keen that any steel would be as inobstrusive as possible. The floors between the two rooms were to be leveled. An existing side door was to be removed and bricked in, providing us more wall space to allow for a run of wall and base units.
We wanted a new UPVC French door and a new kitchen window.
We wanted underfloor heating. We planned to install integral appliances, including a boiling water tap and waste disposal unit. We planned to have a breakfast bar with built in hob and an island extractor over. On the dining area wall we wanted a TV, soundbar and HDMI to serve a games console.
We knew that the electrics would require some updating and adding to.
We had an idea of the type of floor tiles we wanted and we had chosen a kitchen from Howdens, as recommended by Steve. We also wanted granite work surfaces.
We wanted to incorporate our American Fridge Freezer into the new kitchen and build it in if possible.
We wanted new oak doors to the kitchen, larder and the French doors connecting the new room to the lounge.
The dining room ceiling needed replacing after a leak in our new bathroom above, which was installed by another contractor.
The areas would all need re-plastering.

What our clients say
We have used Chilltime Developments before, but previously only on commercial properties. They visited our house before this project began and we were able to explain exactly what we wanted and how we wanted the finished area to look. Steve recommended Howdens for the kitchen.
During the eight weeks the development took, they kept us fully informed of progress and we were able to discuss any issues as they arose. I had carried out my own price research into a few of the higher value items. Chilltime were able to use some of their own contacts to find the items, such as the Neff built-in cooker and combi-microwave cheaper elsewhere. Steve also introduced me to a granite supplier. I was able to visit their yard and chose the slab of granite that was to be used in my kitchen and at a very competitive price.

Would you recommend us?
We would definitely recommend Chilltime Developments. We have used them in the past and we would use them again.

Why would you recommend us?
Chilltime Developments bring together different skills and the results are excellent. They managed the entire process and kept us informed of progress, timelines and cost projections. They take pride in their work, they are very friendly and update you every day.

How are we different?
They listen to the customer brief and try very hard to achieve it. They are very knowledgeable regarding the tech advancements available, such as underfloor heating and appliances.

They are really keen to leave the customer satisfied and happy.

What small thing impressed you?
Chilltime Developments got the paint code for the kitchen and painted the skirting boards and architraves in the new kitchen/diner the same colour as the kitchen unit doors. I wouldn’t have thought of it and it looks great.

It’s the little things…
